Remodeling Challenge

And so begins the "fun" of remodeling this old white house.






The house has a lot of charm and character.

It is a southern colonial with french doors opening on to a deck on the side which fronts Geneva Lake. The great room and master bedroom are currently on that side of the house.



The biggest challenge is the narrow, steep stairs in the great room. We also want to relocate the kitchen from the center of the house to the lake side and open it to the great room.

Our plan is to run the stairs up the wall currently between the great room and the to-be-relocated kitchen. We will leave the stairs open for visual openness. The three small windows will have to go but we hope to be able to use them elsewhere.



This is a sketch of what we hope to accomplish. The current kitchen will become a den and bathroom. The upper bedroom will become the master bedroom.
