Let the Sun Shine In!

The new windows were delivered Tuesday. Today is Friday and they are all in - just in time for the first day of sunshine in a long time!

Putting in the big window in the great room.

Our contractor hired some additional help. They worked dawn to dusk to get the job done. Many thanks.

Surprise added challenge

rotted boards
It is a good thing we had the siding removed. Underneath we found several rotted boards which need to be replaced.

wood removed

The process required taking off the rotted boards. Then they had to replace the "ribbon" board which sits on top of the foundation. I learned the walls of the house sit on top that ribbon board! Rotted walls do not make a sturdy house.

Repaired

After replacing the rotted boards, they applied a shield which we hope will keep the rain out.

Siding is Off

Another rainy day...doesn't seem to bother the workers who have been working on the White House tho. Things keep moving right along!

Cast Your Vote

Please cast your vote for the kitchen pendants...

I don't think that there is even a question here. I like No. 1, goes with vintage look. What do you think?

Say Goodbye

BEFORE.

GOING...

AFTER!

The siding of the house will be replaced. The house will stay white, shutters will be black and roof will remain the same. There are specks of black in the green roof, so we hope to bring some of that out with the black shutters.

The bushes will not be replaced, they are gone for good! (insert little bbm man) In their place will be beautiful flowers, plants and our sign!

Now we're cooking!

Kitchen cabinet door
At last, I have decided on a kitchen cabinet and layout - YEAH! I'm thrilled and another big decision is DONE.

The cabinets will be cherry with a coffee glaze.

The layout below is looking in from the Great Room. A bar is to the left next to the refrigerator. The sink and cooktop are to the right. Perspectives are a bit off but you can get the general idea.

Ahoy Matey

My sister and I got the okay to design the Coach House room! As you can see below, a lot of work needs to be done.

We have already started moving along with the plans. For the most part I am going to try to collect items around the house/buy at garage sales and spruce these items up on my own.

Rug has been ordered from Pottery Barn

We will have to work with twin beds since the ceiling is too low for bunks. We will use the current navy duvets we have and will encorporate some red and yellow in the throw pillows.
For the ultimate lakey look I am thinking of getting barrels and wrapping them with thick boat rope for the nightstands.

Decor and map...Christy will be on the hunt for large Lake Geneva maps.

Cost effective centerpiece for the wall art above the couch. OR we may use the wheel we aleady have and put the oars somewhere else.

Chest for a coffee table

Pillows for the wood couch...I am going to pick out the fabric on my own and hopefully my seamstress with make the pillows!

Since I don't think that any of the Parker's will be winning the regata anytime soon(last time we sailed we got stranded in the middle of the lake and Christy actually jumped ship and swam home!) we will need to get a sailboat.
